Drawing from plant specimens collected in the hills outside of Berea, she paints small watercolor portraits of these seasonal finds. Inspired by scientific botanical illustration, and her interest in designing hand-lettered alphabets, Laura creates seasonal, botanical alphabets.

Each piece begins with strips of fabric wrapped around clothesline. I then coil and sew them in a spiral pattern, sometimes adding different colors of fabric depending on my vision for the piece. Bowls make lovely gifts themselves, and can also function as gift baskets.
