Webinars Scheduled for Prospective Applicants to
Al Smith Fellowship, Emerging Artist Award,
Performing Artists Directory

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 6, 2016) — The Kentucky Arts Council will offer webinars to assist artists seeking to apply for the Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship, Emerging Artist Award or Performing Artists Directory.

These webinars will help explain the online application process for those programs, and arts council staff will answer questions from potential applicants.

Webinars for artists interested in applying for the Performing Artists Directory will be Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. Webinars on applying for an Al Smith Fellowship or Emerging Artist Award will be Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. All webinars will occur on Eastern Standard Time.

Applicants interested in registering for a Performing Artists Directory webinar can go to Applicants interested in registering for a webinar on the Al Smith Fellowship or Emerging Artists Award can go to This round of funding for Al Smith Fellowships and Emerging Artist Awards will go to visual and media artists, however artists of any discipline may register for the webinars.

The Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowships are unrestricted $7,500 awards given to Kentucky artists who have achieved a high level of excellence and creativity in their work.

The arts council's Emerging Artist Award is an unrestricted $1,000 award to early career, professional Kentucky artists who demonstrate excellence and creativity in their work.

The Performing Artists Directory is an adjudicated roster of Kentucky performing artists used by in-state and out-of-state presenters and others as a resource for identifying artists for performance bookings and projects.
