Glasgow Artist is Arts Council’s Featured Artist for January, February

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 9, 2018) — Steve Clay of Glasgow has been selected as the Kentucky Arts Council’s Featured Artist for January and February.

Clay, a watercolor artist, is an adjudicated member of the arts council’s Kentucky Crafted program.

“As I create art today, I focus on the essential part of the whole. Looking directly into a headlight or trunk of a car the viewer can enjoy the inherent beauty of the composition and contemplate its mysterious history: feeling the energy, the repose, the peace; hearing the wind, the buzzing insects; reflecting on a memory,” Clay said. “Traveling around south central Kentucky, my camera beside me, I am aware that all around me there are sights and sounds that resonate with me and, hopefully, with my audience.”

Clay creates his watercolor paintings from the photographs he takes, using multiple layers of paint to achieve the aesthetic he desires.

To learn more about Clay, visit the arts council's website. The featured artist’s page includes a story about Clay and contact information for the artist.
