Kentucky Arts Council, Kentucky State Parks
partner for outdoor art fair

Two-day event will be held Sept. 11-12 in Lexington

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 23, 2021) — This fall the Kentucky Arts Council will partner with Kentucky State Parks to present The Kentucky Crafted Outdoor Market at Waveland State Historic Site.

The Market will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 11 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 at Waveland State Historic Site, 225 Waveland Museum Lane in Lexington. The event will be held outdoors on the grounds of the park.

“This opportunity to present Kentucky Crafted artists in a setting that allows for healthy interactions for all participants was too good to pass up,” said Chris Cathers, arts council executive director. “Waveland is no stranger to hosting outdoor events, and we’ve been fortunate enough to partner with them in previous years. Between the hospitality of Waveland and the quality of the Kentucky Crafted artists in attendance, we know this event is going to be something to look forward to.”

“The Kentucky Crafted Outdoor Market at Waveland will feature Kentucky traditions, history and art,” said Charla Reed, Waveland State Historic Site director. “This partnership is an opportunity for two sister agencies in Kentucky’s Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet to come together on a project that expands exposure to parks, history and the best artists in the state. You’ll have culture, history and art all in one beautiful venue.”

The Outdoor Market will feature music from some of the best acts in the Kentucky Arts Council’s Performing Artists Directory, tours of the Waveland State Historic Site, flavors from local food vendors, fun and educational activities for children and an area featuring Kentucky folk artists demonstrating their art forms.

Tickets are $5 (children 12 and under get in free) and can be purchased online or at the event.
