Kentucky Creative Industry Summit

Registration is open for the Kentucky Arts Council’s fifth annual Kentucky Creative Industry Summit Friday, Nov. 30, at the Georgetown College Conference Center in Georgetown, Ky.

The Summit, sponsored in part by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, will feature presentations and workshops on a broad array of topics for artists, arts organizations, community groups, civic leaders, arts supporters, advocates and others interested in supporting and growing the arts and creative industry in Kentucky.

Topics that will be covered at this year’s summit include:

  • Efforts to raise the value of the arts and artists in every community, setting conditions for improvement, and ensuring that artists are thriving with support from every sector.

  • How to achieve success through developing entrepreneurial tools to help you achieve the goals of your arts practice and

  • Building the skills and habits necessary so that money supports your creative practice, rather than detracts from it.

  • Negotiation – how to ask for and get what you want and need in your arts practice.

  • An introduction to the Kentucky Oral History Commission with information about how to collect oral histories and how they can strengthen your cultural work.

  • An inside look at two arts projects in different Kentucky communities, both focused on addressing the opioid crisis in the Commonwealth.

  • Also get your questions answered about tax changes and how they affect artists; copyright, contracts and trademarks, and protecting your rights as an artist; and how you can help build the future of the arts in Kentucky!

Registration is $30 and includes lunch. A full agenda can be found on the arts council’s website.
