Louisville Ballet

The Louisville Ballet, the state ballet of Kentucky founded in March 1952, reaches more than 100,000 people annually. It has earned a national reputation as one of the country’s leading regional ballet companies with more than 50 world premiere ballets to its credit and a repertoire of over 135 works. The primary mission of the ballet company is to educate audiences in the tradition, appreciation and technical aspects of dance. Touring programs and educational activities help fulfill that mission.

A solid base in the classical tradition makes possible a wide range of dance performances, enabling the Louisville Ballet to offer a diversity of works to catch the attention of dance enthusiasts of every kind. From classical pieces including "Swan Lake," "Don Quixote," and "The Nutcracker" to contemporary programs such as George Balanchine’s "Who Cares?" and Harrison McEldowney’s "Dance Sport," the Louisville Ballet’s repertoire appeals to a wide audience.
