Hazel Johnson and David Foster

A concert experience with Hazel Johnson and David Foster combines acoustic guitar and mandolin mastery with a trip back to an age when ancient melodies were heard throughout the old and new world. Hazel, on her 1933 Gibson Nick Lucas guitar and her Gibson F-style mandolin, and David, on his D-28 Martin and Maggini fiddle, perform an astonishing range of traditional Appalachian fiddle tunes and Celtic melodies, as well as contemporary and original songs. Together, Hazel and David have mastered more than a hundred old time tunes, many of which are rarely heard in live performance. The music is ancient yet still survives in the mountains of eastern Kentucky; the taverns of England, Ireland and Scotland; and at old-time festivals throughout the world where the melodies have withstood the test of time.
