Lexington Children’s Theatre
Founded in 1938, Lexington Children’s Theatre (LCT) is one of the oldest continuously operating theatres for young people in the country and is proud to be the State Children’s Theatre of Kentucky.

Lexington Children's Theater
LCT believes every child should have the opportunity to experience live theatre. LCT produces an 11-show season- nine of which are performed on the Main Stage located in downtown Lexington-primarily for school and public audiences, as well as a Summer Family Musical. LCT’s producing director and artistic staff select plays for production that span a variety of themes and that are age-appropriate for young audiences. Annually, LCT serves over 130,000 children and LCT’s professional tour company travels on average to 60 out of the 120 Kentucky counties each season, reaching children who are unable to travel to LCT’s Main Stage theater.
Dedicated to arts education for youth, LCT’s education department offers year-round classes and summer camps in its Lexington facility as well as in-school residencies and workshops in schools, libraries and community centers through out the Commonwealth. Over 3,000 children annually participate in LCT’s arts education programming. In 2004, LCT expanded by creating Shooting Stars Youtheatre, a satellite outreach program based in Rowan and Elliott counties, targeting underserved children in the Appalachian region of the state.
