PHOTOGRAPHERS, KENTUCKY ENVIRONMENTAL FOUNDATION
Deadline: ASAP. The Kentucky Environmental Foundation is seeking one or two feminist photographers to help complete a project called “Images of Women’s Environmental Health” by photographing women whose health or whose children’s health has been impacted by exposure to toxic chemicals. The women will be photographed in their daily family, work or community setting. Photographers are wanted as soon as possible so that photographs may be compiled by June 1.

PADUCAH PHOTO '12, YEISER ART CENTER
Paducah, Ky.
Deadline: early deadline is April 27; late deadline is May 11. Paducah Photo ‘12 is open to all photographers working in digital or film photography. Juror is Ellen Simak, Chief Curator at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tenn. This year’s Paducah Photo 2012 is expanding to include a second venue that will feature photography by regional photographers. The Regional Showcase will be held concurrently at Maiden Alley Cinema. Photographers living in the following counties in western Kentucky and southern Illinois are eligible to submit photographs for the Regional Showcase: Kentucky counties: Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg. Illinois counties: Alexander, Johnson, Harding, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, and Union. To be considered for the Regional Showcase, photographers from these counties must enter Paducah Photo 2012. Entry fee. All entries for this year’s exhibition must be in a digital format and must be submitted online.

SOS ART 2012, ART ACADEMY OF CINCINNATI
Deadline: May 14. SOS ART 2012 is a group art show and event of sociopolitical expressions for art and justice. Now in its 10th consecutive year, SOS ART will take place at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, June 1 – 10, 2012. Greater Cincinnati artists working in any medium are invited to participate.

KY7 BIENNIAL, LEXINGTON ART LEAGUE
Lexington, Ky.
Deadline: May 15. The KY7 Biennial is the third in a series of exhibits, presented by the Lexington Art League, showcasing new work by living artists in Kentucky and all of its contiguous states including Ohio, W. Deadline: May 17. Harmonizing Health Retreat and Rainbow Spiritual Education Center are seeking art and craft vendors, dancers, drummers and storytellers for the Drum, Arts, Cultural and Wellness Festival on May 19 – 20. PUBLIC ART PROJECT, SEATTLE OFFICE OF ARTS AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS
Deadline: May 18. The City of Seattle seeks an artist or artist team to develop site-integrated artwork for Seattle Public Utilities Lower Mapes Creek Restoration Project in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood. The artwork will be installed in conjunction with a creek restoration project, which includes a pedestrian bridge and an open-stream channel to improve the habitat for juvenile Chinook salmon in Lake Washington and a pedestrian bridge. The call is open to all artists residing in the United States.

WORD HOTEL
Deadline: May 31. Word Hotel, the literary magazine published by the BFA in Creative Writing at Spalding University is accepting literature, illustrations, photographs and photographs of artwork for the summer/fall issue to be published in Aug. They welcome submissions in all genres and a multitude of styles, including experimental, and are looking particularly for writers who have not yet published a first book. Writers may submit up to three poems (any length), short fiction or creative nonfiction up to 2,500 words, and hybrid texts. INDIANA BLACK HISTORY PUBLIC ART LEGACY PROJECT
Deadline: June 18. The Indiana Arts Commission, the Indiana Historical Bureau and the Indiana Department of Administration announce a nationwide call for artists to create sculptural works for the Black History Public Art Legacy Project. Artists are invited to submit an application to design and fabricate one or both traditional bronze busts for the Indiana State House. The works are intended to celebrate the life and public service of two African American legislators who served the State of Indiana, James Sidney Hinton (1834-1892), and Julia Carson (1938-2007).

2012 MFA NATIONAL COMPETITION

Deadline: May 15, 2012. First Street Gallery is an artist run gallery located in the heart of Chelsea, New York City’s premier art district. For more than 42 years, our mission has been to exhibit and promote the work of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists. BOURBON-N-JAZZ PAINT OUT
Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, Owensboro June 15, 16 and 17, 2012. The first annual Bourbon-n-Jazz Paint Out is a plein air painting event presented by the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art in conjunction with the Owensboro Bourbon and Jazz Festival. Special sites in the Owensboro and Daviess County area that have significance to the heritage of bourbon distilling in Kentucky will be made available to artists. The 3-day event will be highlighted by an exhibit at the museum on Sunday, June 17. Prize money available. Juror is Kentucky artist Jim Cantrell. Artists must register and pay a $20 registration fee by June 1 (fee is $35 after June 1).

KENTUCKY ARTISAN CENTER: CALL FOR ART WORK
Deadline: June 30, 2012 (for July 2012 review). The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea invites Kentucky artisans to apply to have their work selected to be offered for sale at the center. The Kentucky Artisan Center sells primarily the work of Kentucky artisans who are juried into the Kentucky Arts Council’s programs, the Kentucky Proud Program, the Kentucky Guild of Artisans & Craftsmen and the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Several times a year, however, the Kentucky Artisan Center accepts applications from artisans not involved in these programs. Product application categories are crafts and other visual arts, music, film, foods and literary works. Applicants must be residents of Kentucky and at least 18 years of age.

AESTHETICA ART PRIZE
Deadline: Aug. 31, 2012. Aesthetica, the international art and culture publication, announces the opening of the Aesthetica Art Prize. This prize is a celebration of excellence in art from across the world. Four shortlisted artists and four student artists will be selected for exhibition in spring 2013. Artists working in all forms are welcome to submit work. One overall winner will receive approximately $1,570 prize money and editorial coverage in Aesthetica, as well as a place in the exhibition.

ADOLPH AND ESTHER GOTTLIEB FOUNDATION: EMERGENCY GRANTS
The Emergency Assistance Program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified artists whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood or emergency medical need.
