THE KENTUCKY ARTS COUNCIL CREATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR KENTUCKIANS THROUGH THE ARTS

The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Tourism, Arts & Heritage Cabinet. It was formed in 1965 by Executive Order and is authorized under KRS 153.210-235 to develop and promote a broadly conceived state policy of support for the arts in Kentucky.

The Kentucky Arts Council supports Kentucky arts and cultural organizations, individual artists, schools and communities through programs, grants, awards and services that create opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts.

Every $1 in grant funds awarded by the Kentucky Arts Council helps grantees secure $15 in earned income and matching funds from individuals, philanthropic sources and other levels of government. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
