A.R.T. (Artist Resources and Tips) is a free, subscriber-based, monthly electronic newsletter for individual artists of all disciplines. This publication serves as a clearinghouse for regional, national and international opportunities, and contains up-to-date information about Kentucky Arts Council grants, programs and training available to Kentucky’s individual artists.

Listings are obtained from a variety of resources and their inclusion in A.R.T. does not imply an endorsement from the Kentucky Arts Council. Before making a submission, please verify deadlines and requirements with the listing organization.

WILDER WRITING RESIDENCY FELLOWSHIP
Deadline: September 1. Poetry or creative nonfiction fellowship includes fourteen-week spring semester writer-in-residency position at Lynchburg College, a stipend of $12,000, housing, meals and roundtrip travel expenses. Submit a copy of a previously published book of poetry or creative nonfiction, curriculum vitae, cover letter outlining evidence of successful teaching experience and three references. "AMERICAN LITERARY REVIEW" AWARDS

SANDEEN/SULLIVAN PRIZES

2009 EMERGING VOICES ROSENTHAL FELLOWSHIP
Deadline: September 5. Fee: $10. Open to writers of fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry from minority, immigrant and underserved communities. "HUNGER MOUNTAIN" CREATIVE NONFICTION PRIZE

SAMUEL FRENCH MORSE POETRY PRIZE

ROBERT FROST FOUNDATION ANNUAL POETRY PRIZE
Deadline: September 15. Fee: $10 per poem. Prize of $1,000 and invitation to read for poem written in the spirit of Robert Frost. Published and unpublished work accepted. Poet retains all rights. 2009 LITERARY GIFT OF FREEDOM AWARD

BAKELESS LITERARY PUBLICATION PRIZES
Deadline: November 1. Fee: $10. Publication by Houghton Mifflin and fellowship to the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference; awarded annually for a first book by a poet, fiction writer and creative nonfiction writer. BEREA COLLEGE APPALACHIAN MUSIC FELLOWSHIPS
Deadline: September 1 (for October through December 2008); December 1 (for January through August 2009). One to three-month fellowships in support of research projects that contribute to the preservation and promotion of Berea College’s noncommercial traditional music collections.
