Program Description

The Arts Education Roster is an adjudicated directory of professional teaching artists and folklorists qualified to work in educational settings. The directory can be accessed at http://artistdirectory.ky.gov. The roster also serves as a resource for schools, museums, art centers, social service agencies, colleges, universities, hospitals, festivals, community recreational facilities and other nonprofit organizations seeking qualified arts professionals for arts and educational programming.

This online directory includes a marketing narrative, photograph, work samples and contact information about the artist as well as sample residency projects.

IMPORTANT: Artists applying for inclusion in the Arts Education Roster must provide the KAC with documentation of a current background check by the Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to being accepted. (see http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htm. The KAC must receive this by Tuesday, April 7, 2009)

All Roster artists are provided with free professional development training to enhance their skills when working in an educational setting. This training will be offered July 14th during mandatory artist workshops and includes such topics as teacher professional development delivery, core content and program of studies, adapting programs for persons with disabilities, integration of the arts into the curriculum, etc.

To maintain eligibility as a roster artist, you will be required to attend annual professional development workshops and provide the KAC with a yearly updated data sheet that includes contact information, a summary of professional development activities, residency updates and residency activities.

As a roster artist, you may partner with Kentucky schools interested in residencies and apply for the Teacher Initiated Program.
