Plein Air Poetry
Plein Air Poetry
The Gateway Regional Arts Center in Mt. Sterling is hosting an exhibition of paintings and poems from Plein Air Poetry — a collaborative project between Kentucky writer Alexandra McIntosh and her husband, the oil painter Brad Davis. The duo takes its name from the Impressionist practice of working en plein air (“in the open air”). Each painting and poem is a result of careful attention to a specific place — from Kentucky’s High Bridge to a view of the New York City skyline from a pier on the Hudson. While the pieces range in subject from Florida to Maine and out west to Colorado, the artists’ hearts are in Kentucky, and the poems often return there, at least in memory.
The exhibition will be on view from March 6th to April 24 with an opening reception on March 6th.
