CISS: Resources for Visual and Performing Arts
The Kentucky Arts Council will offer a free Creative Industry Summit Series webinar on Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. Eastern. This session features Jessica Greene, Academic Program Consultant with the Kentucky Department of Education, and introduces new implementation resources aligned with the Kentucky Academic Standards for Visual and Performing Arts.
Designed for educators and school leaders, this session explores practical tools that support high-quality instruction in dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts. Participants will learn how these resources can be used to design vibrant, standards-aligned learning experiences that balance creativity with academic rigor.
This session will provide a practical look at how to:
- Use new implementation resources aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards for Visual and Performing Arts
- Strengthen instruction across dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts
- Design engaging, standards-based lessons that center creativity and rigor
- Apply these tools directly to classroom planning and instruction
Jessica Greene is an Academic Program Consultant in the Division of Program Standards, Office of Teaching and Learning at the Kentucky Department of Education. She focuses on statewide implementation of the Visual and Performing Arts Standards.
Greene holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Education from Berea College, a master’s degree in Conducting from Eastern Kentucky University, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of Kentucky, where she earned Principal and Superintendent certifications. Her career began in Nicholasville, Kentucky, teaching choir, media arts, and other arts courses. She later served as the inaugural District Arts Coordinator in Jessamine County, supporting arts instruction across all 13 schools, and has been part of teaching and administrative teams that opened three new schools in Fayette County. Outside of education, Greene collaborates with theatre companies as a performer, music director, and producer, and enjoys sharing the arts with her husband and two young children.
