Kentucky Arts Council Issues Warning About Vendor Application Scams

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2026) – The Kentucky Arts Council is warning the public and artists about fraudulent social media posts and messages falsely claiming to accept vendor applications for the Kentucky Crafted Market.

The Kentucky Crafted Market does not accept vendor applications through social media comments, direct messages, third-party websites or unsolicited emails. Participation in the market is by invitation only through the Kentucky Crafted Program, which is administered exclusively by the Kentucky Arts Council.

“We want artists and makers to know that any posts or messages claiming to offer vendor spots or collect fees for the Kentucky Crafted Market are not legitimate,” said Executive Director Chris Cathers. “The Kentucky Crafted Program includes only adjudicated Kentucky artists who have completed a rigorous jury process. Exhibit booths for the Market are filled months in advance.”

The Kentucky Arts Council actively monitors its social media platforms and removes misleading or fraudulent comments when identified. Members of the public are encouraged to rely only on information shared through official Kentucky Arts Council communication channels.

Anyone who encounters a suspected scam is encouraged to report the post or account directly to the social media platform and to avoid engaging with or sharing the content.
