Literary artists: $7,500 and $1,000 grant applications now open

Applications are now open for the Individual Artist Fellowship and the Emerging Artist Award in literary arts (fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, play/screenwriting). Applicants may apply for either a fellowship or an emerging artist award. The deadline to apply is March 15 for both programs.  


Individual Artist Fellowship 


The Individual Artist Fellowship is a highly competitive $7,500 award for working professional Kentucky artists who have demonstrated a high level of excellence and creativity and significant achievement in their field. Fellowships are awarded based on the quality of work samples submitted. Awards are unrestricted and may be used in any way to support the artist’s career.  


For more information about the Individual Artist Fellowship, the arts council is offering Zoom office hours on March 10 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern. Registration is required. In addition, the arts council will offer a Zoom application workshop on Friday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. Eastern. Registration is required . 


Emerging Artist Award 


The Emerging Artist Award is a competitive $1,000 award for working professional Kentucky artists in the early years of their career (typically within the first 10 years of their professional artistic practice) who demonstrate excellence and creativity in their work. Awards are unrestricted and may be used in any way to support the artist’s career. 

For more information about the Emerging Artist Award, the arts council is offering Zoom office hours on Wednesday, March 11, at 3 p.m. Eastern.  Registration is required. The arts council will offer a Zoom application workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m. Eastern. Registration is required.
